PADRE'S ANNUAL SHUFFLEBOARD TOURNAMENT- SEPT 12-13 2009!
Join us as a spectator or participant in the 1st annual Padre's shuffleboard tournament!
We'll have four categories of competition. This will be
1) Short board (16ft) singles
2) Long Board (22 ft) singles
3) Short Board (16ft) doubles
4) Long Board (22ft) doubles
Participants will be limited to competing in any (2) categories. Entry fee per category will be $5 cash or check. All proceeds after paying for the plaques to be permanently posted on the wall will go to the Marfa Public Library. Space will likely be limited per category and doubles team members will need to register together as a team. If any team and/or team member has a time restriction (e.g.- when you can play your initial round) said restriction(s) will need to be noted on or before the brackets are formed. That will be on or before Monday Sept 7th, prior to the competition itself on the 12th and 13th. Be sure to reserve the daytimes and into the evenings of Sat Sept 12th and Sun Sept 13th in case you and/or your team advances beyond the first round. Times for initial rounds for teams and individuals will be set and emailed to registrants early in the week prior to the competition.
Tables will be leveled and re-waxed before the Marfa Lights Festival (Sept4-6) for practice purposes and then re-waxed ONLY prior to the Saturday competition. Players may add wax canisters to their playfield prior to and ONLY prior to the warm-up shots for each bout. Once competition between 2 teams or individuals has begun no wax or playfield adjustments may be made. Players are permitted to bring their own weights or use the house weights but may not require anyone else to use any type of specific weights. Once the bout has begun their will be no substitution of weights. Rules for play will be the standard POSTED house rules for Padre's with one exception; all bouts must be decided by a minimum of 2 points. Singles bouts will be played to a score of 15 points; doubles will be played to 21 points.
The process of team/player elimination will be decided by double elimination competition. Losing teams/players will not advance for consolation. Once we are in the quarter finals and semi-finals games will be played. Champions will have their names etched on a brass plate upon the trophy board to be posted in Padre's game room permanently. 2nd place consolation players will also be listed.
For registration stop by Padre's and fill out a registration application. Payment due upon submission of registration. Participants will be notified of changes and schedules via email until once the competition has begun, at which point notification of brackets and times will be via telephone.
